Update on BCPS Council meeting on 23rd May and 2017 Breed Show

In order that the Show Committee could meet after the Council Meeting, the Council meeting was kept short as there were only a few decisions to be made.

There were no changes on the HWSD front and members were shown the new stamp that will be used for existing passports. Regarding documentation for foals born in 2017, this result will be put on a special page in the new passports.

Three colts passed as Class 1 in the inspections in the spring of 2017  - Blackthorn Pirate King, Castle Atlantico and Fleetwoods Secret Liason

Filly inspections are underway but going slowly since filly owners do not seem to appreciate the need to upgrade their ponies.

Since 2017 is the Platinum Jubilee year for the society (70 years since it started in 1947), special rosettes will be awarded to the winners of each class at the Breed show.

The Society is still desperately looking for someone to write up Connemara reports for the Native Pony magazine. If anybody has any suggestions please contact the new secretary Geth Tillin at secretary@ britishconnemaras.co.uk.

The Show Schedule is now available online or by post if you send an SAE to the Show Secretary, Julie Somervail

Please note that Brightwells, who sponsor the Supreme Championship at the Breed Show, are holding their Official Sale of Connemara ponies on Wednesday 30th August which is earlier than in previous years.

Please support the Show and the Sale and in case you did not realise, ponies coming to the show will be able to use portable stables at Aston Le Walls this year. The caterer has agreed to bring in his van on Friday night for a pizza evening. It would be great if we could tell him how many people he might expect - apparently his pizzas are superb!

Enjoy the sunshine and I hope there are plenty of lovely foals across the country.
