NPS 10th Anniversary Dressage Final 2017

NPS 10th Anniversary Dressage Final 2017

Collected Connies & Aligned Allsorts

In January 2017 a group of northern native dressage fans got together and started planning how they can put some teams together to represent the North, East and Lincolnshire and the Connemara breed at the 10th Anniversary NPS Dressage Final to be held at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre. The plans all came together to organise this and 2 teams for each prelim and novice test where put together (we did end up with not entirely all Northerners on the teams in the end).

The teams consisted of the following for the Prelim test:

Collected Connies (Pure Connemara Team)

Stuart Mason- Skellorn Prairie Starlight

Julia Woods- Elaphine Declan

Caroline Cook- Rosscon Jennifer

Donna Wilby- Kindesella Royal Willow

Aligned Allsorts ( Mixed Breeds Team)

Rosemary Myers – Easter Star (Connemara)

Ella Jones- Whitley Village Vincent (Connemara)

Lewene Ennett- Pentrefelin Sorento (Welsh D)

Philippa Hadwen- Highfox Faith ( New Forest)

And for the Novice teams:

Collected Connies (Pure Connemara Team)

Julia Woods- Elaphine Declan

Caroline Cook- Rosscon Jennifer

Stuart Mason- Skellorn Prairie Starlight

Rosemary Myers- Easter Star

Aligned Allsorts (Mixed Breeds Team)

Donna Wilby- Kindesella Royal Willow (Connemara)

Charlotte Cooper- Kildromin Sir (Connemara)

Lewene Ennett- Pentrefelin Sorento (Welsh D)

Philippa Hadwen- Highfox Faith ( New Forest)

We were all really excited and looking forward to being there and Addington is such a great venue. The times came out and it seemed all the Connemara’s were the first to go, and Ella Jones with the earliest time of all the group. The Connemara times were all finished in the morning, with waiting happily for the other breed team members to finish their tests in the afternoon.

The individual results came through for the prelim Connemara section (exc 138cm) which were the 1st results of the day, and the results were called in reverse order – we had placings for Rosemary Myers (9th), Caroline Cook (7th), and then a fabulous result for Stuart Mason riding Katy Seedhouse’s baby rising 5 year old Connemara with a win in this class and a score of 72.12% leading the section by almost 4%.

Next was the Connemara novice section (exc 138cm) results and we also had some great individual placings here too- Stuart Mason (3rd), Donna Wilby (5th), Caroline Cook (7th), Rosemary Myers (9th) and Charlotte Cooper (10th)- some very credible placings and half of the line-up made up of our team members too.

In the Junior sections, we had Ella Jones with 3rd in the prelim test, and Philippa Hadwen 5th, and then Philippa was also 2nd in the novice Junior section with a fantastic score of 68.75%.

Julia Woods was in the under 138cm section with her Connemara, and was placed 3rd in the Prelim test, and 4th in the Novice test picking up some more excellent results for the team.

In the Welsh Section D prelim section, Lewene Ennett picked up an individual 6th place.

The first team results were then to come through, and Collected Connies were placed a very credible 6th.

The final team member of the day to then receive individual placings for the novice test was Lewene Ennett in the Section D class. Results called in reverse again and Lewene won with a score of 75.58% and later it was declared she had achieved the highest mark of the day across all sections. We also now had 2 of our team members through to the very prestigious evening freestyle dressage to music supreme championship.

The next result of the day was the team novice presentation. Collected Connies came in 8th in this, and Aligned Allsorts were presented with 5th on the day. There had been an unfortunate mix up with Aligned Allsorts marks, due to a change in team member, and they should have been placed a very commendable 2nd in this. This has been recognised by the NPS dressage working group, and replacement rosettes are soon to be on their way to the team members.

Team members were then watching the evening freestyle to support Stuart and Lewene give their native pony dancing to music displays. This was fantastic to watch with some excellent displays from all involved in this, and our team members also came out with 5th (Lewene) and 9th (Stuart) in this supreme final. 9th place Skellorn Prairie Starlight by Skellorn Monarch was at his first dressage final and just took everything in his stride. Stuart Mason has been educating 3 generations of this line of Connemara ponies. Pentrefelin Sorento is now 15 and had previously been very successful at this final too, he also loves being an honorary Connemara for these teams.

Julia Woods also had her part-bred Connemara at the final- Mystic Moonstone – who was placed 4th in the supreme final after winning her Prelim section.

A very enjoyable and successful day by all counts!!
