In order for Pure bred ponies to gain Adult status both fillies and colts must attend Society Inspections.
Fillies can be inspected from the age of 2 years and colts from the age of 3 years.
Ponies over these ages cannot be used to breed registered stock that are eligible for Classes 1 or 2 of the Stud Book until they have been inspected, nor can they be shown in pure bred Connemara M&M affiliated classes over the age of 4 years whilst still on a foal registration.
Please see information in green box opposite. Please remember to send the pony's passport into the Office following the Inspection for upgrading to Adult status.
For Irish bred ponies please see under Irish Transfers for more information.
Part bred ponies do not need to attend Inspections.
Geldings do not need to attend Inspections in order to gain Adult status and are granted either Class 1 or Class 2 Adult Gelding status based on their height. A vet is required to confirm they are gelded and to give an approximate height (unless the pony already has a valid JMB certificate) and the passport sent to the Office, with the appropriate fee, for upgrading to Adult status. Geldings cannot be shown in pure bred Connemara M&M affiliated classes over the age of 4 years whilst still on a foal registration.
