At the finals of the NPS TopSpec Southern Dressage Trials which took place on the 13th April 2008 at Addington Manor, Pam Clingan and Canal Village Poacher (Callowfeenish Mairtin x Village Colleen) did the 'Connemaras' proud when he finished 2nd out of 16 in the 138cms and over Mountain & Moorland Novice 27 Class with a percentage of 66.1%, narrowly missing the opportunity to perform the Kur which they had been working on with John Lassetter.  If any of you are interested there is a short video clip of the Presentation that you can see by clicking Here.

Bob Blackburn was thrilled with 'Mossie's' performance and Pam Clingan said "Mossie is a joy to ride.  He really enjoys his dressage and has 'sponged' up everything that John Lassetter has thrown at him. The Presentation was a very exciting moment for us."

BCPS Special rosettes  were awarded to the highest placed registered Connemara ponies in Classes 5 & 6 . These were "Canal Village Poacher" and “Crossdrum Ozzie" owned by Mrs M Hope and ridden by Samantha Roberts  who was placed 7th in Class  5. (Prelim 7. M&M 138cm & Under).

Connemaras reign Supreme at Olympia in NPS Baileys Final!

Bunowen Castle Ri owned by Jackie Webb and ridden by Matthew Lawrence coming forward to receive their prize. They received 47marks for ride and 47 for conformation. Total 94. Sydserff Lord of the Dance owned by Mrs J McCallum  and ridden by Kirsten Douglas coming forward to take their overall 4th prize.  They gained 46 points for ride and 43 for conformation. Total 89.

Connemara stallion Bunowen CastleRi made history on 20th December 2007 at Olympia, The London International Horse Show, by becoming only the second ever to record a second championship win in the prestigious NPS/Bailey’s HorseFeedsMountain and Moorland Supreme Ridden Championships.

Jackie Webb’s grey stallion was ridden by his regular rider Bristol based Matthew Lawrence, with who he won the title in 2005. “For four years he has won through to this final and for four years he has tried his hardest for me,” said Matthew.  “He is just exceptional.”

It will however be the last time that Ri graces the ring at Olympia as he has been retired from ridden classes. “He was always going to be retired after today – but I have several young offspring by him so hopefully in a few years his name at least will be back at Olympia,” said Jackie Webb.

Charlene Richardson and the Welsh section D Drumacre Lloer Solo stood reserve while the grey section B Delami Destiny and Katie Marriot Payne were third.

The Connemara pony Rosenaharley Rossleague was until today first and only pony to have previously won the championship twice taking the championship sash in 1983 and ’84.

Ardmore Beauty

My pony Ardmore Beauty (Abbey Fort  x Renvyle Laura) competes mostly in Endurance, and this year was the proud recipient of the UK Native Breed Shield from Endurance GB's South East Group.  The shield is awarded to the native pony gaining the most points in competitive rides during the season.  Beauty also gained a Bronze Award for completing over 160km during the season (her total was 243km).  This was only our second season in Endurance so it was quite a triumph!
