After this most wet and miserable winter and this now warm and sunny May, we need to keep an eye out for Laminitis. The grass is green and it seems to grow overnight.
We used to see a lot of poor conditioned ponies, but it seems now with every sort of Feed/Balancer/Supplements known to man, the risk is of over-weight ponies!
With Lockdown it has probably also caused many ponies to be turned away as no competitions or clinics etc. available. And of course when we are eventually let out of lockdown we need to make sure we don’t do too much with ponies that are unfit!
All in all, even though the poo picking has probably kept us all fit and sane, we do need to be aware of situations that we don’t normally meet at this time of year.
