Pure Bred Foal Registrations
For all pure bred foal registrations, please contact Sandra Parkington- secretary@britishconnemara.co.uk You will require an application form and DNA kit/s which must be sent in the post. The Application for Registration form cannot be downloaded due to difficulties with the silhouette.Under EU Law, owners must apply for a passport for their foals by 31st December in the year of foaling or within six months of foaling whichever occurs later.
In order to encourage breeders to stay within this legislation, the BCPS will be introducing a levy of £25 per registration for any foal born in 2012 or in later years, who are registered outside of the EU time limit.

Ponies from Ireland and Abroad
The BCPS can transfer the ownership of ponies with recognised Connemara passports from Ireland a providing that the ponies are entered into the BCPS stud book at the same time.
For foals or ponies already on adult registrations, you will need to complete an Irish Passport Transfer of Ownership form.
For adult geldings still on foal registrations we also require your vet to complete the section on the Irish Passport Transfer of Ownership form (replacing gelding registration form)
It is sometimes difficult to determine whether or not the passport is a foal registration or whether it has been updated to an adult -
For Irish passports from 2006 onwards the foal registration numbers are in the format S3/M3/G3-XXXXXXXXXXXXXX with the letter denoting the sex and the number 3 denoting the foal status. If the passport has been updated in Ireland the new adult registration number will have a number 1 or 2 denoting a class 1 or class 2 adult pony, in place of the foal number of 3.
For older ponies, different foal registrations numbers apply. These incorporate the registration number and the year of birth ie 03/123 for a pony born in 2003 and a new number is issued when the passport is updated to an adult which will include a letter S,M or G depending on the sex.
The BCPS can transfer the ownership of ponies with recognised Connemara passports from Ireland and abroad, providing that the ponies are entered into the BCPS stud book at the same time.
If you have any doubts about whether your pony has a foal or adult passport, please contact the secretary who will be happy to check for you.
