Eventing

Since 2018, the prestigious BCPS Eventing Championship has celebrated the versatility of the Connemara Pony as a performance breed. 2021 saw the competition continue to grow and we have been extremely fortunate to secure Saracen Horse Feeds as a title sponsor.

Over 100 pure-bred and part-bred Connemaras entered the 2021 Finals from over 40 qualifier One-Day Events (ODEs) nationwide, with competitors coming from as far afield as Truro and the Orkney Islands!

See below for more information on how to qualify and rules for the Finals – a full set of rules for the Eventing Championship is also available to download from this page.

How to qualify

The BCPS Eventing Championship qualifiers are open to anyone with a registered pure-bred or part-bred Connemara Pony at no additional cost on top of the ODE entry fee. However, different rules apply for taking part in the Finals if you do qualify – see the “Finals rules” section below.

You can qualify at any of the unaffiliated ODE on our 2022 list of qualifiers, which will be available soon. This will include the unaffiliated ODEs run by Horse Events.

As of 2021, we accept qualifications for four height sections: 70cm, 80cm, 90cm and 100cm. There are two ways to qualify:

  • Be placed in the top 10 of your section; or
  • Post a double clear (cross country and show jumping)

It’s as simple as that!
