Part Bred Registrations
Following advice from DEFRA, and action taken by other equine breed societies, the BCPS has very reluctantly decided to suspend the issuing of passports for new registrations, and the over-stamping of existing passports, for part-bred Connemaras. This issue concerns the inclusion or otherwise of any pedigree information in the passport documentation, and is due to an interpretation of the existing legislation by DEFRA. The BCPS will seek further advice and clarification on the subject in the hope that a satisfactory solution will be found to enable the BCPS to resume part-bred registrations and over-stamping in their current format.
Note: this suspension DOES NOT apply to any part-bred registration and over-stamping applications already received by the BCPS office, and pure-bred registrations continue to be processed as normal. The Council of the BCPS wishes to thank all Society members who may be affected by this decision, for their patience whilst this issue is resolved.
